The Rare Carolina Marsh Tacky

Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 7:30pm ET

Ginger Hipp is a dedicated horsewoman, breeder, and educator specializing in the rare Carolina Marsh Tacky. Based in rural Georgia, Ginger raises and shows these historic horses, preserving their legacy while teaching ethical horsemanship. A firm believer in the respectful treatment of horses, she emphasizes patience, trust, and an understanding of each horses individual nature.

Beyond her work with Marsh Tackies, Ginger also breeds miniature donkeys, adding another dimension to their love for equines. Manzanita Farm serves as a place of learning and connection, where they teach others both young and old about responsible horsemanship, from handling well-trained mounts to working with green horses just starting their journey.

Currently, Ginger is writing a memoir about her deeply personal journey with Mercy, a PasoFino mare who challenged her in unexpected ways. Initially reluctant to take Mercy in, she soon realized there was something different about her, something that would forever change her perspective on horses, training, and trust. Her memoir delves into the struggles, triumphs, and the profound lessons Mercy taught her about letting go.

Through her work with Marsh Tackies, her writing, and her lesson program, Ginger is commitment to helping others honor the unique spirit of these horses and share the beauty of the Equine.

Sensory Soundness & Herd Dynamics

via ZOOM

Thursday, April 23, 2026 at 7:30pm ET

Our April Webinar speaker is international Clinician Kerry Thomas, just returning from his Australia Clinics.

The premise: "When people ask me to describe my work with horses, I often say this: I translate the equine mind. My work is centered on understanding how horses experience the world, how they perceive their environment, process emotional and sensory information, and express that experience through behavior, movement, and performance."

"We all know what horses are. My work is about uncovering who each horse is. At its heart, this is a journey of discovery, revealing the emotional, sensory, and herd-driven forces that shape a horse’s responses and capabilities. Our goal is collective: to bridge the gap between the natural herd dynamic and the domesticated world."

ERAHC March 2026 Webinar News

ERAHC-MAR-2026-webinar-w.jpg

Meet Laura Harper

Introducing Documentary Filmmaker, Laura Harper. Her award winning film, MUSTANG of THE CARRACAS MESA DOCUMENTARY, is a deep dive into the history of the New Mexico Mustangs.

The 50-million-year-old story of the horse is weaved into a changing world history leaving the beautiful mustang in its Northern New Mexico dust!

In 2020, Laura Harper began work on a film script about her once-wild mustang, Rambo. As she delved into his life, she found Rambo’s story connected the evolution of the horse to New Mexico’s history and her own life in New Mexico's San Juan Basin. Laura discovered that the horses used by the Conquistadors more than five hundred years ago to traverse New Mexico in their search for the Seven Cities of Gold had an ancient bloodline that is a treasure found there today. Laura would find in Rambo her Cibola - one of the Lost Seven Cities of Gold.

Amazingly, a 2013 genetic analysis conducted by Dr. E. Gus Cothran, Department of Veterinary Integrative Bioscience, concluded the Old-World Iberian breed is conclusively a genetic marker present in the Jicarilla mustangs of Northern New Mexico and Rambo’s DNA. By tracing the mustangs’ bloodline, a wonderful history of New Mexico—its wild horses and its people— is revealed and vibrantly retold in Laura’s film, “MUSTANG of the Carracas Mesa: A History of the Jicarilla Mustangs and Mustangers.”

The film features local families that represent the diverse culture of Northern New Mexico "mustangers" and their personal relationships with the Jicarilla mustangs. It is through their individual stories that we learn the Jicarilla mustang’s historic value to Northern New Mexico’s culture. The documentary concludes with the idea that by joining nature, horsemanship, community, science, and technology, there can be a positive future for the mustangs and the mustangers.

“The Iberian: How the Horse of the Past Became

the Horse of the Future”

with Paul Belasik

Thursday, February 26, 2026

Meeting via ZOOM call 7:30 pm ET

“The Iberian: How the Horse of the Past Became the Horse of the Future”

with Paul Belasik, Pennsylvania Riding Academy

In the early 1500’s, Spain occupied Italy. The Spanish troops brought with them their Iberian horses. When the tremendous forces of the Renaissance met the Iberian horse, the trainers of the day had a vehicle to fulfill their creative dreams. Horse ballets began at the same time human ballets were invented, solidifying the connection of Iberian horses to high art and nobility.

In 1572 in Austria, the most famous riding school in the world was founded, and yet many people do not think to ask why it is called the Spanish Riding School. In the 1800’s and 1900’s, the Warmblood horse came to the forefront primarily due to their visibility in the new equestrian sports in the Olympics. Biases and politics locked out other breeds.

Yet in the late 1900’s, Iberians began to show up in competition and people fell in love with them. In this webinar, I will talk about why and how this happened. And, as someone who has been involved in breeding Iberian horses for many years, I want to talk about some dark clouds that could influence this great rebirth of the Iberian horse.

PATRICIA NORCIA

Training the Iberian Horse

September 18, 2025

via Zoom

Dressage trainer and instructor, Patricia Norcia, owns and operates Idlenot Farm in Connecticut. Trained in Spain and the United States, Patricia is certified by the British Horse Society and the American Riding Instructors’ Association. She trains and instructs in the French classical style; and, while she works with horses of any breed, her passion is for the Iberian horse, the Andalusian and the Lusitano.

Patricia is also an accomplished actress and stage director. An acting graduate of the Yale School of Drama, she was introduced to tai chi as part of the required curriculum. She has performed on and off Broadway, in television, and in films. She has also taught breathing and spinal alignment classes at Yale, Columbia, and Rutgers Universities.

Originally from Rome, Italy, Patricia’s love for the horse, dance, and theater has created a diverse career that has allowed her to travel extensively. Closer to her Connecticut home, Patricia has performed with the company Dancing with Horses, an exhibition group that combines modern dancers on the ground with horses, either ridden or at liberty. She also recently created and choreographed her own Idlenot Quadrille that has performed at various events throughout New England.

She recently produced the opera "Carmen" featuring the Iberian horse and is on the Board overseeing the educational component of the Connecticut Dressage Association.
